From Wellington Brewery,

An unfiltered American style India Pale Ale with notes of tropical fruit, lemon and pine. Dry hopped with Simcoe, Centennial, Amarillo, and Citra hops for an otherworldly aroma and a distinctively hoppy finish.

Appearance | Hazy amber-orange with a decent head.

Smell | Hops, citrus, grapefruit, orange, lemon, and pine.

Taste | Bitter, citrus, grapefruit, orange zest, lemon, pine, and hops.

Aftertaste | Lingering notes of bitterness and grapefruit.

Overall | Wellington Brewery makes these one-offs once, sometimes twice a month.  Since moving to Guelph and closer to Wellington Brewery, The Brew Head has been waiting for a IPA since he missed out on Boot Chuck IPA (a past Welly one-off)… and it was worth the wait.  This is a novel hoppy brew, balancing the citrus with four different kinds of hops (each with their own distinct contribution to the beer’s overall flavour). Amarillo hops has a distinct and unique aroma of flowery, spicy, and citrus-like. Simcoe hops has the strong bitter taste and many variety of aromas that includes passion fruit, pine, earthy, and citrus. Centennial hops has the strong aroma of citrus.  Citra hops has the compelling citrus and tropical fruit characters. It’s a daring session brew for those hopheads out there.   It is highly recommended to pair this brew with a spicy Pad Thai.

There are some left at the Brewery in Guelph.  Let’s hope that it will make an appearance in the Welly Re-Booted series in the future!
