What is an IPA (India Pale Ale)?
The American IPA is a different soul from the reincarnated IPA style. More flavourful than the withering English IPA, colour can range from very pale golden to reddish amber. Hops are typically American with a big herbal and / or citric character, bitterness is high as well. Moderate to medium bodied with a balancing malt backbone.

On Thursday, August 1st, 2013, where will you be? At home? At your local watering hole? At a buddy’s? Don’t forget to have an IPA (India Pale Ale) in honour of #IPADay! Share a IPA with a fellow buddy. Here’s some history about #IPADay.
The history behind #IPADay
For the past two years, hundreds of events, tastings, festivals and dinners have been hosted around the world in celebration of IPA Day. Last year, roughly 12 thousand tweets from more than eight thousand people were sent out over a 24-hour period, yielding over 10 million impressions for the #IPAday hashtag on Twitter.
Throughout the day, the official hashtag trended in several major U.S. metropolises, including New York, Chicago, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle and Alabama. From Asia to South America—mentions of #IPAday on Twitter extended across six continents.
The goal is to make this year’s IPA Day even more viral. Getting involved is easy, the only requirements are an appreciation for great craft beer and the willingness to spread the word. Anyone can participate by enjoying an IPA with friends, making some noise online with the #IPAday hashtag and showing the world that craft beer is more than a trend.
