LAKE EFFECT IPA BY GREAT LAKES BREWERY

  • STYLE: American IPA
  • ABV: 7%
  • IBU: 80
  • COUNTRY: Canada
  • REGION: Toronto, ON (Etobicoke)
  • BREWERY: Great Lakes Brewery

Appearance | Hazy orange with a pillowy/meringue white head.

Smell | Hops, citrus, grapefruit,  pine, and grass.

Taste | Hops, bitter, grapefruit, citrus, pine, zest, fruit (mango), orange peels, grass, and grain.

Aftertaste | Bitter (light), citrus, and dry.

Overall | From the Tank Ten Series, Lake Effect IPA is a recent addition to LCBO shelves.   The haze within the glass, provides insight into the name of the product: it looks like the bottom of a lake. This is a fantastic IPA from Great Lakes Brewery (not so surprising, afterall Mike Lackey is the Hopfather in Ontario.)  A fellow craft beer blogger described this as a ‘Double Crazy Canuck’,  The Brew Head would have to agree with him.  It’s a refreshing IPA for the winter, but it will warm you up with memories of summer.  What a cruel joke, GLB.   The bitterness is there but not forceful.  This is a easily dangerous session brew at 7%.    Yet another great brew from Great Lakes Brewery and Tank Ten Series.  It would be a welcoming addition to the regular line-up.
