From Lake of Bays Brewing Co.,

Roasted barley and chocolate malt lend this porter its full, rich character, and the addition of locally roasted coffee takes the flavour profile still further. Brewed in collaboration with Diesel House Coffee Roasters, this porter is a fitting tribute to the Old North we call home.

Appearance | Deep ruby-red brown with a mocha creamy head that laces to the glass.

Smell | Roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, and biscuit.

Mouthfeel | Smooth, thin, and low carbonation.

Taste |  Chocolates (Dark and Light), coffee, cappuccino, hint of smokiness and dried fruit.

Aftertaste | Smooth, bitter, and chocolate.

Overall | This is Lake of Bays’ Winter seasonal offering. It is a delicious Porter that would be great for dessert (on it’s own, or accompanying a bowl of vanilla ice cream!)  They brewed this Porter in partnership with Diesel House Coffee Roasters. There’s a mild presence of roasted coffee. It is smooth and delicate, with low carbonation. The coffee and chocolate make this a great ‘breakfast’ brew – The Brew Head wishes he had had it on Sunday watching Team Canada win the Gold Medal in Sochi! Try swapping Baileys & coffee with this Porter when you’re feeling festive.

Food Pairing | Dessert or Ice Cream.

LCBO Inventory | $8.95 | 750ml

Note: Lake of Bays Brewing Co. supplied Old North Mocha Porter for The Brew Head to review.  Thanks for bringing it over, Jeff!
