From Lake of Bays Brewing Co.,

Inspired by the log drivers who worked the lakes and rivers of the North, this golden ale’s considerable hop profile is balanced by notes of citrus and spice, for a finishing as crisp as the water’s edge.

Appearance | Clear golden with white dense head.

Smell | Lemon, ginger, biscuits, wheat, grass, and spices.

Taste | Spices, biscuits, lemon peel, cloves, dryness, and bitterness.

Aftertaste |  Dry finish with notes of bitterness, lemon peel, and spices.

Overall | If you were expecting last year’s version…Bad news, they changed it.  The good news, however, is that it’s still quite refreshing on a hot Summer day on the patio or dock.  What’s the change?  They dialed back the hops to bring down the IBUs (International Bittering Units, a measurement of hop flavour).  Last year’s recipe was a whopping 85 IBUs, this year comes in at 65 IBUs.  It is reminiscent of  a Belgium-style Wheat Beer with its balance and aroma of lemon, ginger, and spices.    This would be a nice bottle share among family and friends.

LCBO Inventory | $9.95 | 750ml

Note: Lake of Bays Brewing Co. supplied River Walker Ginger Lemon Ale for The Brew Head to review.  Thanks T-Bird!
