BY THEBREWHEAD · OCTOBER 26, 2015 Time to get philosophical. Ever imagine coming to the end of a pier and wishing it just kept going? This exact feeling will be exhumed when experiencing this Double IPA. So go on, take one step further, one more sip, miracles may just occur. Large dry hop additions to this beer lead to the hop flavors leading the flavor with a clean tasting malt backbone which allows the hops to shine. The hop profile is rich and well balanced, and can be described as slightly piney earthy/spicy, floral and citrusy/grapefruity. – Refined Fool Brewing Co. BY THEBREWHEAD · NOVEMBER 13, 2015 It’s hop harvest time! Our brewers went up to Clear Valley hop farm in Nottawa, Ontario to pick some fresh Centennial hops right off the wires. We took these fresh hops immediately back to the brewery and wet-hopped this medium bodied harvest ale to enhance the bright floral, grapefruit, and citrus aromas of the legendary Centennial hop. It’s been a while since I’ve reviewed a one-off from Wellington Brewery. And for good reason, they’ve been rebooting a lot of one-offs that has been released to the LCBO across Ontario. ‘Fresh off the Wire’ is a … Continue reading FROM THE ARCHIVES: Fresh Off The Wire by Wellington Brewery

REVIEW: Starke Pils by Amsterdam Brewery Posted by thebrewhead on June 10, 2016August 22, 2016 Well, they were right when they said it isn’t your traditional Pilsner. Out of the tallboy pours a light hazy straw colour with a dense white head that also laces the glassware. The aroma is of a simple Pilsner with its refreshing notes of grains and hops. The taste is hoppy, crisp and bold (yet light) with its medium bitterness, spices, and dried fruit. From Amsterdam Brewery; The idea with Starke was to brew a fairly traditional Czech style Pilsner, but to leave it unfiltered and to hop … Continue reading FROM THE ARCHIVES: Starke Pils by Amsterdam Brewing
REVIEW: Saturday Night Cream Ale by Stack Brewing Co. Posted by thebrewhead on July 28, 2016August 22, 2016 Like the name of the beer, it’s made for easy drinking on Saturday Night. Great for Hockey Night in Canada and tolerating Don Cherry’s rant about foreign players and good ol’ Ontario boys, this beer is made for that. Out of the tallboy pours a straw-yellow colour with a white head that quickly instantaneously disappeared. The aroma is of a bayhale that was freshly cropped, the corn, the biscuit, and grains. The taste is similar to it but with a tyranny of sweetness. That being … Continue reading FROM THE ARCHIVES: Saturday Night Cream Ale by Stack Brewing Co.
REVIEW: Bystander APA by Innocente Brewing Co. Posted by thebrewhead on July 28, 2016August 22, 2016 If you’re heading to St. Jacobs, Ontario, you should know that there are two excellent Ontario Craft Breweries to hit up. First, you have Block Three Brewing Co. right in St. Jacobs. The other? Well, head down Highway 17 and get off Northfield Drive East. You really can’t miss it. This is what I did last weekend with the ladies (meaning my Wife and Daughter) and I stopped at both places to pick up a few beer to have for that Game 2 of the … Continue reading FROM THE ARCHIVE: Bystander APA by Innocente Brewing Co.
